Rounds 9 and 10 saw the Triple7Racing Internal Championship gather at the South City Unofficial 2 track. The sensitive MRT5 was going to be a tough proposition round this unforgiving street circuit - especially with cobbles and tram lines. With M4Driving and Fordman at the helm, the whole team could extend a warm welcome to its newest member – Reed. The next event marks a return to the more familiar territory of TBO class as we take on the Gold configuration at Fern Bay. Qualification Something rather special happened during the qualifying. Reed, new to both the championship and T7R team powered his MRT5 to pole position by 0.15s. The gauntlet had indeed been thrown down! Could this performance be repeated in the race? Race 1 - 19 Laps Interceptor produced another fine drive to take the win from Basem, while his closest championship rival could only finish 4th. Reed, the star of qualifying finished a respectable 6th in his first championship outing. Race 2 - 20 Laps (reverse grid) With some close lap times posted in race 1, could the back markers cause an upset in race 2? Well, no! A spin from Lippy at the first corner did nothing to help matters, but normal service was soon resumed with the race 1 leaders surging towards the front of the field, with BBO eventually taking the win. Overall With the top 3 championship runners finishing both races within the top four, their championship credentials have been vastly improved. Fordman, Lippy and EMD now find themselves rooted firmly to the foot of the championship - perhaps with only pride left to race for. (0) Comments |
