Event 3 (rounds 5 & 6) of the T7R Internal Championship saw the competitors gather at the South City Classic Circiut - running in its reverse configuration. In a departure from previous events, there was a choice of cars on offer - the GTT, the RB4 and the FXO. In a grid dominated by the FXO, the GTT drivers looked to be up against it. Unfortunately, Fordman sat this event out because of technical problems, but that didnt stop him from organising proceedings. The next event takes us somewhere different - the Green RallyX track at Fern Bay. This should be a spectacular event, and sees the first appearance of the RB4! Qualifying The single lap qualifying session once again proved to be a real test of nerves. Powering these large cars through the tight chicane is a delicate balancing act at the best of times. Interceptor looked to have pole in the bag, but was eventually denied by .04s by Three_Jump. Race 1 - 14 Laps Keeping out of trouble and in contention was the aim as the race started. Unfortunately, this didnt happen - but did result in an almightly scrap for 3rd place. A position occupied by 4 different drivers. In the end, Three_Jump and Interceptor finished comfortably in the top two positions. Race 2 - 15 Laps (Reversed Grid). With everyone posting very similar fastest lap times in race 1, it was always going to be difficult for the race 1 winners to make their way through the field. BBO took the win from pole - setting a new PB in the process, while R1 leaders could only feature in the mid-field. Overall This was destined to be a close encounter, with no quarter asked for or given. The unforgiving nature of the track rewarded those who could keep themselves out of trouble, and punished those who couldnt. The overall standings show Three_Jump and Interceptor begining to open up a small gap at the head of the table, however Bismarck and Basem should not yet be discounted. (0) Comments |
