Fern Bay Gold was the setting for the penultimate two rounds of the T7RIC. With all cars from the TBO class being eligible, it was once again a matter of personal preference.

The championship finale takes place on the RallyX track at Fern Bay with only the RWD GT being available.

Qualification

With qualification taking place in reverse championship order, the pressure was on Interceptor - especially after Three_jump set an impressive time. Interceptors lap put him 3rd, a little under .8s slower then Three_Jump, but still more that an second faster than Fordman in 4th, and two seconds faster than Basem in 5th.

It was a bad session for Bismarck, who could only qualify 7th.

Race 1 - 12 Laps

With Three_Jump romping to a convincing 13.5s victory from Interceptor, the real battles were further back in the field. Fourth position was hotly contested, with a little over 2 seconds eventually covering four drivers.

No doubt Fordman, EMD, and Lippy were left exchanging insurance details after their first lap incident.

Race 2 - 14 Laps (reverse grid)

The days second race saw the grid assemble in its traditional reverse formation.

The first half of the race saw Interceptor and Three_Jump make their way through the field and into 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Fordman having broken away from the field was enjoying a 4.5 second lead.

With Interceptor and Three_Jump locked in a titanic (and sometimes rather too close) battle, Fordman was beginning to look like taking the win. However, Lap 11 changed that after an incident in the chicane resulted in a blown engine.

Interceptor held his line (and nerve) to eventually take the win by 0.18s

Overall

With honors even for Interceptor and Three_jump, and a poor showing from Bismarck, we head towards the final championship round with Interceptor leading by 19 points. (0) Comments
