Team Interviews part 4 with BBO PDF Print E-mail

ImageHello racers!

This week we present you the next Interview with one of our team members. He finished the last Original Live for Speed league as 12th, not far away from the top ten. He is a clean and fair racer. He lets you rather pass than provoke an accident, but check your mirrors, as he will be right back to take back what was rightfully his. He is also the writer of our OLFSL News and some other reports.

Interview with [T7R] BBO

Hi ho BBO, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions.
Hi three_jump

Q1: Ok, when have you been born and what’s your real name and where do you live?
My real name is Bernd Weingart, born in Wolfenbuettel, Germany in 1969. I'm living now in Halberstadt near the Harz Mountains.

Q2: What do you do when you’re not in front of your PC? Do you have any other hobbies?
When I’m not in front of the PC? Hmm can't remember when this happened the last time. LOL Ok I love watching movies and documentaries and I’m interested in all kind of future technologies and Sci-Fi as well. Another hobby is American football because I played as a wide receiver years ago in a small German team (they have grown since that time and won the German Bowl a few times). I had a knee injury and that’s why I can't play anymore but I love to watch it.

Q3: What are you working in reality, is this job the one you always wanted to do?
I started my own business with a friend in 2003 and I’m working there as a Retail Sales Manager. I also do the website and internet stuff in our little IT-Company. Well, I think it's getting the way I always wanted it.

Q4: Once Martin Luther King said in his famous speech: “I have a dream”. What’s your dream?
A hard question. I think making enough money for having an easy life, get a wife, have some children and be healthy all the time would be great.

Easier question:
Q5: When did you start playing LFS and why are you called BBO?

I don't really remember when I started with LFS it was at an early stage of the game when it was a beta and I don't really liked it, because of the strange steering. But then a year later or so I tried it again and noticed that you just need a good setup to have fun. So now I’m here.
2nd part of your question. BBO is short for Bernibo (Bernibeau), my sister Jasmine always said that to me cause I needed to much time with my hair in the bathroom at the weekends. So I used it as my C64 name but most of the games at this time let you just type in 3 letters in Highscore lists. So BBO (speak Bi Bi Oh) was born almost 21 years ago.

Q6: There are so many (good and newer) games out there, but you are still playing LFS. Why?
I think it's on one site because of the game itself. You can play for hours and month and years and never drive all the track and car combinations perfectly. On the other side it's because of the fantastic community. I never saw it playing other games that the good ones helped the new ones just for nothing. They'll give you setups and teach you how to drive etc. This happened to me when I was new to LFS and now I’m helping others. I really like that.

Q7: Live for Speed S1 is more than 1 ½ years old, but there is nearly no week without at least one new world record. Do you think that a perfect lap exists?

Hmm...
No. There will be always someone who drives a better lap. But that's another reason for playing LFS for so long. You are never satisfied with yourself you always think: Man I can do it better. Then you try it and sometimes you do and you’re still playing and trying and playing and...

Q8: What is your favorite drink when driving? Do you hear music while driving? If yes, what music?
When I don't have to work the other day I usually drink light red wine (sometimes it helps improving my lap times but most of the times it doesn't. LOL) I never hear music during a race I just listen to the sound of the engines (I hope the devs change it a bit in S2 because I don't really like the sounds).

Q9: Please complete the following sentence: “Since I play Live for Speed...”
my girlfriend left 'cause she doesn't want to see my back all the time. Wink

Q10: What was your most memorable time in LFS?
I think it was my first season in the OLFSL where I made the top 20 and then the top 10 out of so many drivers and I reached the pro finals. Unfortunately I couldn't drive the finals but it was a great feeling, being there a few places behind the living gods Rudi Turbo and Macest. And that's only after a few month of training.

And now please feel free to say what you ever wanted to say to your audience!
Ok to all those who are new to LFS: When I’m starting in a race and there are five drivers in front of me, please don't bump (what happened so often) into me when I’m braking at the first or second turn, 'cause I don't break there for fun! Just try to look ahead and not only to the one car in front of you. Thx.

Thank you Bernd for this interesting Interview and for taking some time to answer my questions, I hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you three_jump and sure I did. It was fun.
