ImageHello racers!

It's taken a while to present you the next Interview with one of our Team members. But today I'll present you our Web designer and the guy who leads our forum. He's a nice and always friendly guy but be warned: when he sees a chance to pass you clean, he'll try.

So please smile for him and put your hands in the air to welcome Lippy.

Interview with T7R| Lippy

Hello Lippy and thx for joining this little Interview
no prob.

Ok, here is the first (and easiest) question: What is your real name, when were you born and where are you living?
Real name is Paul Lipscombe.
I was born on the 20th September 1971 (do the maths - ouch) in a little place called Ash (near Guildford) in the UK. Currently, I'm living just outside of Bath (where I work).

Next task: Describe yourself and your appearance to your audience.
I don't know really. Tall, thin, pale?
Oh, and quiet!
I'm a network manager for a UK based international company of consulting engineers. As a company, we get involved in many prestigious projects, but I just fiddle with networks and servers!

So your LFS nick "Lippy" is kind of a short form for Lipscombe, right? Or is the any other reason for your nickname?
I believe its short for Lipscombe.
The first time I remember this was at work. It was the floor secretary who was struggling with 5 Paul's - 4 in the same room and 2 sharing the same phone extension! Then it just sort of stuck.

Lol
Smile

Well, we all know that LFS takes its time, but I'm sure that you still have other hobbies. Please tell us about them.
Sorry to disappoint, but I'm actually a bit sad in that respect!
I am a season ticket holder at Thruxton - the fastest road circuit in the UK, so I try to get to all meetings there. I have organised a number of karting events for work, but other than that almost all of my time is work, studies, or taken veging in front of the TV or computer.

What do you wanted to do when you were a little boy
All those years ago?

Yes Smile
I cant really remember. I do know that once my parents got me and my sister a 48K Spectrum+ I was quite certain that doing something with computers (i.e. not just using them) was right. Later through school, programming was very appealing to me - something I got to do in my job (intranet development).

Please complete the following sentence: "Since I play Live for Speed..."

I have done things I never thought I would.
I sat there at nights, chatting to people I've never met, generally getting to know them.

Leads me to my next question.
What is the special thing that keeps you playing Live for Speed?

Two or three things.

The people: The people out there are a big part of the game. Team mates you chat with, random people will help you drive faster.
Its the sense of community the game brings with it.

The Game itself: I've played many driving games - each with its own pros and cons. The ones that stand out were the GP series because it was what you thought it should be like to drive a GP car fast. I get the same feeling from LFS.

And, I haven't got bored with it! Somehow it managed to keep you hooked!
That's because it works very well on line, and you can always find someone just that little bit faster than you.

You are mentioning that you played other driving games. Please tell us something about your racing history, like first game, best game (apart from LFS), worst game etc.
GP games have always been a bit of a love for me - especially the Geoff Crammond ones. You could jump straight into the car and be fast. Perfect to keep your interest.
Another Grand Prix Junkie Laughing
Smile
I've tried various games from the EA series, and they just didn't grip me in the same way.
The Papyrus games - NASCAR Racing, and the incredibly difficult GP Legends.
I've even driven Colin McRae Rally (Codemasters) - please don't laugh!
More recently, I've put some time into GTR. In terms of game, I position this somewhere similar to GP - it's what I think a large GT car should be like.
The best from that lot? I have to say that the GP series holds a special place in my heart.
But it's really not the best one is it...

Totally different question: Your favourite superhero, why?

Hong Kong Phooey. It was a cartoon, I was young. Nuff said.

If you had one wish for free, what would you wish?
I'm going to have to go for something selfish here. I've been a fan of Queen ever since my dad got their greatest hits tape in the 80's. And having listened to their 86 Wembley stadium concert, I just wish I could have been there.

Please feel free to say some words to your audience.
I have to say thankyou to Fordman for asking me to join this team, and it doesn't matter of you finish first or last - just make sure you had fun doing it.

And one final thing. I have to say hello to Sue.

Ok, then one more Question: Who is Sue?
The lady here who works on the IT Helpdesk. They know I race in this team, and she has been looking out for my interview.

Thank you very much for answering my questions, I hope you had some fun while answering. Smile
Well, I just hope you can make something out of them.
Thank you.
