Team Interviews part 12 with Nikimere PDF Print E-mail

ImageHello racers!

Well, a new F1 season has started a while ago, and as it's still common there that all drivers have to give interviews, I thought it's time to do another interview with one of our team members. So I took my best suit and the next flight to Ireland and tried to catch one of our fastest members. Well, finally I caught him at the end of a rainbow, sitting there with some gold. I took the chance (the gold) and forced him to answer some questions…
So please give him a warm applause, as he really deserves it :)

Hello Nikimere, thx for joining this little Interview.
Hi :)

Let's start it easy and simple, please present yourself to our audience!
My name is Niki Meredith, I'm 22 and live in Dublin, Ireland. I'm about 5'9" tall, medium build, and doing some gym also and I'm a pretty relaxed guy most of the time.

Well, we all know that LFS takes its time, but I'm sure that you still have other hobbies. Please tell us about them.
Well, I'm a Multimedia Programming Student which means I do a bit of everything. I love working with Flash and developing websites. My latest work is the website for the Irish A1 GP1 team.
I'm also a major motor sport nut, I can watch 10 hours Motors TV straight without problems. I'm also working as a mechanic for an Irish karting team and I also like mountain biking.
One of the good things of working with the karting team is than I can travel a bit through Europe, so far I've been all over Ireland and the UK and was in Lake Garda in Italy.
I also love to go out with my mates on weekends… get some drinks, head into Dublin City to a night club and then hit the Casino after. Does drinking count as a hobby? I'm fond of that too. ;)

I'll count that as hobby... ;)
he he !

Well, looks like you're a bit more connected to motor sports. Please tell us something about the reason.
I started Karting when I was 9 and Won 6 or 7 Irish Championships in '98 + '99, then I moved into cars in 2000, where I raced Formula Ford Zetec and won the Irish Junior Championship that year.
Between 2001 and 2003 I could only do 3 races in a FIAT Punto HGT due to money problems.
In 2003 the Head of Alfa Romeo offered me a driver seat for Alfa Romeo Ireland in the European and Dutch Alfa Championships. I did have had a few podiums and won the privateer class.

Any chance to see you back on track soon?
Not at the moment, but you never know. Things have come up all of a sudden before. Money is a big problem and motor sport is all about money.

Someone said that once you started with motor sport, you'll never forget it, and will always remember the good times you had. Could this be a reason why you are playing LFS?
Yes, LFS is pretty close to real life. You can have good close racing with people that are similar speed. Those are the good times I remember from real racing, so yes its part of the reason why I play LFS. Also it's the only type of computer game I'm good at :)

Do you play any other pc-games (apart from LFS) and what was your first PC (Atari, or Amiga) game you ever played?
Not really, I play GTL and GTR a little, maybe once every 2 weeks. The first game I ever played was Autotest on the Commodore 64

Please complete the following sentence: "Since I play Live for Speed..."
… my computer knowledge has gone up, and I'd say my girlfriend hates me a little... lol!

So I guess Nikimere is the short form of your real name, any special reason, or just lack of creativity?
Nikimere is a serious lack of creativity when I was 1st introduced to the Internet in 1997 it kind of stuck from there on.

Please tell us something about your LFS History!
I started on December 2002 with Kevomcenzy and together we started 3.Racing Team. We ran it for some time but ended due to Team members going inactive. I haven't done many miles in LFS, believe it or not, only about 21k. And no I never play offline :)

What made you choose T7R?
I knew Fordman and Three Jump before hand and I also knew Sparkydave. When I decided to leave 3.Racing Team, I was on the look out for another team. I had been approached by some of the big ones including T7R and because you guys were so nice and friendly and not cocky I decided on T7R.

ImageI've heard you're driving an "old" Mini. Lot's of people say that this would feel like driving a Kart, do you share this opinion?

It's the best car I have ever driven! It's a 1993 mini. With a 1.3l engine and has a few engine and exhaust mods. It does handle like a kart and I'm confident that it's the quickest thing around a round-a-bout. :D Top speed of 100MPH, but that's fast enough in something that has the same crash resistance as a Coke can!

Your favourite superhero, why?
Hmmm... I don't really have one, I wasn't ever into Science-Fiction stuff when I was younger... but my real life hero would be Ayrton Senna.

Speaking of him, if you had the chance to meet him, what would you ask him?
How the hell he was so quick! lol!
He was unbelievable in the wet so I'd probably talk about driving techniques with him.

If you had one wish for free, what would you wish?
To live a fulfilled and happy life, kinda selfish lol!

I expected "world peace".....
nah, I'll leave that to Bono and Brittney Spears

What's your favourite book, movie or music song?
Book is "The DaVinci Code", Movie is "Days of Thunder" and my favourite song is "Bohemian Rapsody" by Queen.

Right, you managed through all my Questions, any final words for your audience?
This is where I'm supposed to leave a very intelligent and impacting sentence, but I'll just say thanks for taking the time to read about me.
I look forward to many more years of fun online racing in LFS. See ya in my mirrors. :)

Thanks a lot Niki, for doing this little Interview with me, I hope it wasn't that boring for you.
No problem mate, see ya soon!
