cebit2011

I first wanted to write a bigger report about the last CEBIT fair in Hannover but unfortunately my camera died and I only got some not so great mobile phone pictures to show you. So this report will be a bit smaller, I think ;-)

G.I.Joe and me (BBO) were as ASUS guests on the CEBIT last month. Great if you can get there for free (Thx again to ASUS) instead of paying 39,- Euros (or a bit more than 34 British Pounds)  for a day ticket. To be honest it wouldn’t be worth it if you are not a businessman or a pro gamer.

The prologue:

Well after cutting lots of wood (the temperature was showing minus 10 degrees) in the near forest for Andreas new oven we both really had to spent some time somewhere else than in the pure nature.

So the world’s largest computer fair came right in time.

At first we really laughed about a car that was rolling in front on our way to Hannover. We both were not sure if it really was a companies name (If you can't read it check the pictures name ;-) )

The fair itself:

The interesting part of the fair technological like was the 3D stuff. Nintendo 3DS, 3D TVs without glasses etc. Was interesting to see all that in action but tbh if you really think about buying something like that. Do yourself a favour and wait 5 more years. The Nintendo looked good but if you are not exactly in front of it or move it a bit the 3D effect is gone or you don’t even see the pic on the display at all. Which makes playing it while having it in the hands a pain.

Also the TVs are not as good as the media hype everywhere tells us. They also placed green mats on the floor for the right standing position, if you not stand at the right spot the TV picture looks strange or the 3D effect wasn’t there. So atm it’s just something for the lonesome single nerd that has to much money I guess ;-)

The most interesting things we’ve seen was some hologram technique in action. A pyramid with a moving car in it and a glass box with a running video of a singer performing while floating in the air. That was really really impressive, we both agreed that this was the best part of the CEBIT this year. But I bet it will take another 10 years till we got something like this that also works for everyone at home.

Of course there was lots of other stuff to see from robots playing footbal to music live on stage and also old school katalogs printed on paper instead of using Ipads.

Gaming at the CEBIT:

You could find the usual CS gaming on the big screen (yaaaawnnn) and lots of other racing stuff.

As it looks like that LFS is on an all time low atm you could find lots of other racing series and racing games and simulations at the CEBIT except Live for Speed (In my eyes the Devs really waste so much potential with not upgrading LFS or releasing some new tracks in a reasonably timeframe) No one really speaks about it anymore atm I really hope this will change in the near future.

The biggest racing event this year was the Intel / iRacing.com GP Series World Finals that were also held at the CEBIT.

As I only got some poor pics you’d better watch the Inside Simracing video

At the end of the day we allowed us a nice meal in an american diner

and that's it with it with the small report from the CEBIT 2011.

Teamies, visitors and friends:

What are you guys doing at the moment?

I am playing right now more strategic games like Shogun 2 or was beta tester in the last months for the new Battlefield 4 free game , but also tested some racing stuff like Shift 2 unleashed (which has with a racing simulation as much to do as  Charlie Sheen with being sober).

I also tried Test Drive Unlimited 2. But I’ m not really get hooked to other racing games for a long time. It’s interesting for sure and you can drive other or new tracks but the racing and steering itself usually sucks or is too much arcadish. So I still wait for the next LFS patch and hope it will revive the racing spirit in me.

Are there any good games around or did you find something special that’s worth to share it?
