The 1st Event of the Season was being held at the demo classic also known as Blackwood. With it's long straight it's one hell of a straight if you are on a close battle and want to stay in front.
Find out how the race went for Sir. Pingo and Three Jump, and read the following race report.
Qual
Qualification was a bit of a change because all prior testing and race preparation was done with a heavy car which behaves slightly different. With 30 minutes of time and only 22 drivers showing up for the event though there was plenty space to squeeze in the odd fast lap or at least the try for it. Our drivers, Three Jump and Sir. Pingo, did their best and finished right behind another on 5th and 6th position being only 0.11 of a second apart from each other.
The fastest time was done by ATC Dadge putting him on pole and made clear that he was the person to beat for the first round of the season.
Race
The start went smooth and so did surprisingly the first and fear corner in Blackwood. Three Jump was able to gain one position putting him on 4th position while kept his 6th place and was right behind sidi before the long back straight where he passed sidi moving forward to 5th. Three Jump meanwhile outbraked Jakelainen and moved up the the 3rd place and had a hard time keeping the position for the next corners so the pack behind got closer and formed a 5 car train. On lap 3 Pingo got under pressure with sidi regaining the 5th place and slowly sneaked away while ATC gAg was waiting for a chance to get by as well putting up some pressure from behind on Pingo. After sidi passed Jakelainen he made the hunt for Three Jump who was still 3rd on couldn't quite keep up the pace the leader was going. The battle between both drivers built up for a few round and started around lap 14 with sidi being faster at that time while Three Jump refused to let him by.
While still fighting for 3rd position sidi and Three Jump started slowly to catch up on Gang who was having some engine trouble after overreving the engine under braking and therefore not able to keep up with Dagde of was in a league of his own being about 10 seconds ahead on lap 25 while Pingo was having a battle for gAg for the 6th place. But unfortunately his connection broke down at the beginning of lap 27 and so Sir. Pingo was out of the race.
The battle between sidi and Three Jump was finally ended at the end of lap 28 when 3J made a small mistake routing him through a gravel trap and putting him back on 3rd place with Jakelainen right behind him. On lap 32 Three Jump gained the lead as sidi did his mandatory pit stop, just a couple of laps after Dadge who had dropped back to 6th place. From that point it was a race against the clock for Three Jump who had to push as hard as possible for the next 20 laps against the invisible sidi and therefore the 2nd place. After his pit stop 3J rejoined the track in 2nd place, 12 seconds behind Dadge, but over 5 seconds in front of Jakelainen who did his stop in the same lap and 9 seconds ahead of sidi. From that moment on the race was mostly done with Dadge comfortable in the lead and the rest too far behind to catch up.
Next round will be Aston Club (AS2), see you there.
