This is just a short overview with chosen milestones out of the history of the Triple 7 Racing team .

    -
2004   -  2005   -  2006  -  2007  -  2008  -  2009  -

There happened lots of more things in the past that can’t all be written about,
but we are sure you can gain an insight in the turbulent past of Team T7R.

2004    up

Triple 7 Racing was founded on the 30th July 2004 by Fordman and EMD.
Fordman, who first raced for one of the mothers of all LFS racing teams “Boomerang Rapido” and later with EMD in the “British Racing Team”, felt in mid 2004 that they had to leave this team and start their own LFS team.

That’s how all began. They both thought about a cool name and as three sevens are the lucky cards, they also thought this would bring the team some luck on the tracks. Triple 7 Racing (T7R) was born.

We also had an announcement on LFS-Radio (yes there once was an LFS Radio station)  the day Triple 7 Racing started.

Our founders had a lot of ideas in mind about how a good team should be led (democratic leadership, drivers could only be invited, always try to be fair on and off the tracks, no pressure to win when racing but have fun and friendship, etc.)

After a short while the first skins and the first website were made by EMD and the next members were chosen. Lippy who was a close friend to them followed, then Interceptor, Three_Jump, Deano and BBO.

They formed the first 7 drivers of the team and worked hard together to make the team better and competitive on the track and it was clear that the website and the forums had to change to handle a growing team. They also found our very first server sponsor M4Driving.

2005    up
After that a lot of other great guys followed the call from T7R one after another (like Bismarck or Sparkydave to just name a few) Over the next year 2005 they all worked together on various things. Deano was hosting the first T7R Scotland team server, Lippy was creating and hosting the next new website and the new forums and also hosted sometimes his famous “T7R| Lippy's world“ server and we also had a triple7racing chat channel on mirc.

Our famous T7R internal championship (TRIC) was also held in 2005 for the first time and Interceptor won it, right in front of Bismarck and Three_Jump on the 3rd.

We changed our team tag that year as well from the plain white text with blue square brackets to the brand new look. Blue T7R, a yellow streak (unfortunately LFS does not support orange in the name colours) and the name in white at the end.

In October 2005 we changed again our skin design and that, together with a lot of hard work, brought us many good positions in the LFS Team Awards 2005. Our liveries won us the "Best looking LFS Team" award and our team spirit and “motto” (always try to be fair and friendly)  brought us „The Friendliest LFS Team” award as well, next to some more community awards.

BBO and Fordman also initiated the relaunch and administrated later together with other admins from many well known teams the new Clean Racers Club (CRC) that year, which was necessary to prevent wreckers till LFS S2 was leaving the demo state.

And Fordman was the main organizer of the first LFS real life kart meeting held in the UK together with the LFS devs. Where our drivers Lippy and Three_Jump made the 2nd place right in front of the devs Victor and Scawen himself.

Fordy also worked as an Admin together with Three_Jump for the ESL UK and was mainly responsible for the ESL UK Live for Speed Summer Cup in 2005 which was won by one of our british drivers SparkyDave.

And last but not least we celebrated our 1st birthday in England at the 1st T7R-Team meeting with Fordman as kind host.

What a year!

2006    up
From the Motor Show in London England in 2005  (MPH'05) over the EAS show in Vienna Austria in 2006 our drivers Fordman and Tristan promoted LFS wherever they could together with the Cyberseat Simulator. You can still find a video (27MB) of the MPh'05 Show on their website.

In July 2006 we had to change the complete website and forums software once again to handle the still growing team and to also get a little more protection as we had been hacked a few times in the last years (looks like there are always envier when you are successful). The change was mainly done by VTX who is also our main and biggest sponsor with his Bnext IT solutions company.

Again special thanks for that Barry.

3rd T7R website

There was also the 2nd kart meeting in the UK that year and Fordman (acting as entertainer and cameraman) took part together with Danowat and Lippy.

Our Triple 7 Racing Team logo slightly changed the colours in 2006 as well. Now instead of the blue, orange and black we got blue orange and grey. See here:

Slightly logo change

Then we published our famous Darkwood movie. Were we all raced with special night sky textures and an internal light addon to simulate how LFS could look like when there would be real night racing implemented.
You can download the .zip file of the video (ca. 29 MB) here: "T7R Darkwood - LFS Night Racing - 2006.zip"

We drove our first Masters of Endurance (MoE) races in 2006 and our team took again part in various other leagues and events and helped to organize leagues others held (The Danish Racing Cups for example). We always helped others with our knowledge and experience in league racing and organizing things or writing news. Also our famous race reports were copied with permission directly to the OLFSL

BBO had a little idea and invented the first internal team setup website that year

1st T7R internal setup station

Deano then took the idea and created something really great out of it. A setup station written in .php which he shared later with the whole LFS community. And we instantly took his version and implemented it into our website.

Then there was the ESL UK ERRC league where SparkyDave finished in 3rd and our former member Simon "No_One" Murphy won the championship.

And our 2nd internal championship (TRIC II) was held over the year this time: Three_Jump won it, Bismarck was 2nd and BBO finished 3rd on the podium.

2007    up
As the team was still growing we decided to create the new team manager position. To better organize the team work and to quickly find decisions if necessary.
Dan (Danowat), Jan (Three Jump) and Bernd (BBO) were chosen to be the first three managers of Triple 7 Racing.

1st T7R Managers (Dan,Jan,Bernd)
In June 2007 we found another big sponsor for our Team “500 servers” who provided us for a long time with a Teamspeak and an LFS racing server.
T7R Team sponsor 500 servers

To give something back Triple 7 Racing also sponsored that year the LFS4FREE event that was held by Danowat where Demo drivers could win a S2 license.

The rest of the year a lot of the team concentrated on only one big league: Masters of Endurance (MoE)
We tried hard to get a better final result in that season and we showed that we learned from the small mistakes we made in our very first endurance racing year.

In 2007 after the leaving of Gopher04 who was together with EMD and P1LOT our team skinner, Gavin took over the complete skinning work and created us a new livery. With the new skins we also wanted to get away from the growing numbers of individual skins (multiple 20 drivers with 20 car skins then you know why). So he worked on a new design with new sponsor logos etc.

Sparkydave achieved something special that year. He dominated the CTRA with it's thousands of drivers almost the whole year and had the first place in the international drivers rankings. Because of time problems he couldn’t stay on the top there in the last month of the year but everyone already noticed that he ruled them all. He later got also an award from the CTRA for his awesome performance, which also made the T7R team once more very proud.

Next to the leaving of the founders of T7R (Fordman and EMD) we also had a big internal restructuring going on that year which was necessary because we had already 21 members back then. The forums had to be cleaned up and restructured and the growing work had to be distributed more clearly.

Oh and Morcs had a brainwave and created our famous T7R mascot. Mr. Chimpleton Wink which made it on some of the skins and early design studies.

2008    up
Tristan Cliffe and Nikimere two of our real life racers left us because work like the Irish motorsport website from Niki that took to much time or the real life Formula 3 car racing from Tristan that needed more time. Next to them there also left a lot more mainly due to the same reasons. Slow development of LFS, lack of motivation and real life stuff that has to be done. That was a sad time.

Jan (Three Jump) and Bernd (BBO) were again chosen to take the management position in Triple 7 Racing and also led the team to one of the biggest successes in the history of T7R. Finally they got something out of their work and finished together with the rest of the Team the MoE season 2007/2008 on the 3rd place in the GT2 class.
The last MoE race 07/08MoE trophy from the T7R trophy cabinet

Next to that drivers were involved in other leagues like the Road Sport Winter Cup or the Gentlemen’s Cup we also made our own little league this year. With the Triple-Double-Cup we gave some new drivers the chance to also get in touch with our team to maybe get a seat in the Triple 7 Raing Team but other then in the Gentlemen’s Cup where we spotted and recruited Kristian (Sir Pingo), we found no one that was worth the invitation.

2009    up
The racing season is still running and we had also our first nice team result in one of the ATC 60 laps Grand Prix. Jan, Kristian and Bernd showed how to drive the GTI.

T7R dominated the ATC GP

On the 30th of July in 2009 we celebrate our 5th Birthday

More to come…
