tdc1round2Round 2 of the Triple Double Cup (TDC)
was held last Sunday on the 14th of September 2008.

We had again a great qualifying on the South City Town Course.
It was not as close as expected because FLP/r Jouman and [Fluid] M.Biaggi did both fantastic 1:40.xx lap times. The next 12 drivers then did a 1:41.xx and 10 more did times below 1.43.00.

After 15 minutes Jouman got the pole with his brilliant 1.40.56 lap followed by M.Biaggi and his 1.40.78. The 3rd starting position was this time taken by [PM] Ant with a 1.41.26 which was a surprise for some of the others.

The race started and we saw soon some dangerous moves in front of T1 followed by some small touching here and there and an unlucky incident caused by lag after T2.

In T1 of the 2nd lap again some small touching between 2 cars that caused a 2nd and 3rd driver to spin. But all the others could luckily go around the cars that stand on the track and the race went on. Unfortunatly [MCR] JayBee had then an early disconnection and couldn't finish the race.

In the 3rd of the 26 laps some drivers forgot about the pit-window that is staed in the rules and made an early stop to then get later a penalty after the race.
Then we had in the 5th lap Thunderhead who had an unlucky meeting with one of the walls. It ended in putting the car on the side, so another one was out.

In lap 7 after some dogged position fights two drivers crashed right in front of the last turn and the following 4 racers that came up from behind really had trouble to go around the spinning cars. But somehow everyone mastered it and the race went on without a large pileup.

The rest of the race was characterized by lots of great and close position fights and passings which is for sure also caused by the completly different pit strategies a lot of people have used. Only in the last laps there was some problem with a backmarker who unregarded the blue flag and caused some problems with the top three drivers.

But nevertheless it was again some nice racing that we saw most of the times and lots of drivers had their fun again during this round of the Triple Double Cup.
You can read some of the reports they made in the "Round 2 - After Race discussion" thread in our Triple Double Cup forum.

I still do owe you the podium and the final results and here they are:

FLP/r Jouman finished on the 1st place with a respectable advantage over the whole field.

[Fluid] M.Biaggi took the 2nd place and ATC Dadge completed the podium this time.

Congratulations to these three guys and of course a big thank to all you others who raced with us in the TDC.

As always you will find the full qualifying and race results and the overall standings,
replays, etc. in our forum in the Triple Double Cup board
