Round 1 of the Triple Double Cup (TDC) was held yesterday on the 7th of September 2008.

The new 15 minutes nonstop qualifying format was working really well and no one had a problem with it. We had a nice and close qualifying run and after the time was over we had 21 drivers who qualified within 1 second.

The winner of the qualifying was this time T7R|Pingo who got the pole with his 1:22.12 lap.  He was followed closely by FLP/r Jouman with a 1:22.13 and the third was [Fluid] M.Biaggi who drove a 1:22.15 around the Aston Club track.

The race started like planned and there was soon some nice battling for positions going on throughout the whole field. Unfortnatly we lost 2 drivers who had a disconnection, one right after the start and the 2nd in lap number 2. That's bad luck guys.

All the others drove on and we had only minor accidents and incidents in the starting phase of the race.
In lap 4 T7R| SparkyDave and [Fluid] M.Biaggi started with the first pit stops like the pit-window allowed it.

During the rest of the race some smaller and bigger group of cars formed up and the battling continued.

After the 32 laps FLP/r Jouman finished his clean run on the first place as he also made the right tactical decisions during the race, he was followed by T7R|Pingo and ATC Dadge on the third.

But the final winner was someone else as there had to be given a lot of penalties after the race.
Not for unfair driving but for not obeying the stated pit line rules.

All the top5 finishers and some others too made something wrong there and so they all got +15 seconds to their overall time and ATC gAg moved up 5 places for his first victory in the TDC.

Here is what the lucky winner said after the race:
"I was hoping for a top 10 finish so qualifying 6th and holding 4th at the start of the race was awesome.  Had some technical issues mid race but to come away with a win is super"

Congratulations to the winner ATC gAg and to FLP/r Jouman on the 2nd place and to T7R|Pingo on the 3rd
and a big thank you to all the others who took part and made this event enjoyable.

You can find the full qualifying and race results and the overall standings
next to some driver reports and the replays in our Triple Double Cup (TDC) forum.

Cya next week in South City
