Here is a
little report about the fifth round of the Gentlemen’s Cup that was held last
sunday.
20 laps in the XFG car at Kyoto National. Two of our drivers (BBO on P1 and Three_Jump on P2) lead the Cup after the past 4 rounds and the rest of the T7R drivers followed on place 5, 6 and 13. Could they repeat their performance and hold their positions or improve?
Let’s see how it went for Triple 7 Racing. It looks like this track, which contains a big oval section, is an easy one but the infield with various left and right hander is really tricky. And the smallest mistake can cost you there easily half a second of your fastest lap time.
The qualification: To get a good starting position you usually have to qualify at first in most of the leagues and also in the Gentlemen’s Cup ( GC ). Our drivers gave their best and this is how they qualified: Jan on P2 only 0:00.01 seconds behind the man on the Pole Lasse Vad. Richard on P3 with a nice 2.15.39 lap. Esben on P5, Bernd on P8, Andreas on P9 and Dean who joined the league at the race day on P15. That was again some hard work in such a close field where this time the first 16 drivers qualified inside 1 second.
The Race: Jan had a fantastic battle throughout the whole race and passed Lasse Vad, was passed again by him and passed him again. In the end he had a better brake point for T1 in the last lap and could pass Lasse again and defended his 1st place till the end of the race. Congratulations. Esben who had a stable race, gained some places. Fortunately Lasse made a little mistake in the last lap and so he could also pass him for the overall 2nd place. Congratz to the next T7R man on the podium.
Richard who also had a fantastic race pace that day, only lost 1 position during the 20 laps and finished on the 4th place. Almost another podium place, better luck next time. Bernd gained early two positions and finished after an, for him, unspectacular race on the 6th place. Andreas couldn’t hold his 9th position from the qualifying. Maybe his early pit stop was not the perfect decision this time as he came out behind a bunch of drivers but couldn’t pass them. In the end he lost 3 places and finished on place 12. Dean who just joined the league and didn’t had much time to practice improved his driving during the race and in the end he finished two places better then he qualified, only 1 place behind Andreas.
Overall Standings:
It doesn’t look to bad for our drivers at the moment as we have 5 drivers into the top 10. Bernd and Jan changed their position on the first and second overall place and we hope we can go on like this. The next race will be in Aston on the short and tight Club track. On Sunday the 8th of June we will drive 33 laps in the XFG. More information: You can get more information and race reports, statistics and other things in the Danish Live for Speed Forum. Just register there and don’t worry: No need to learn Danish as the Gentlemen’s Cup forum (under Events) is in English.
