Team Interviews part 18 with Basem PDF Print E-mail

basemHello Racers,

Today I'm presenting you an interview for which I had to travel a long way all over to Canada as he said he would only come over to Europe if we pay him the flight license and the airplane. He's a nice and clean racer and even manages to communicate with the team with the help of a blinking light.

So please turn your lights on and off and say hello to Basem

Ok, here is the first (and easiest) question: What is your real name, when were you born and where are you living?

My real name is Basem Araji (are you all shocked? lol), born in Zahlee, Lebanon and currently living and working in Ottawa,Canada.

Please explain us why did you choose your real name as nickname.

Honestly, I look at LFS as a serious game, and it is something I knew I  would be good at, what better way to get recognized than to use my real name? :)

What are you doing when you're not in front of your pc, in other words: Do you have a real life?

I do a lot of things in life, mostly party and smoke a lot of greenery. I also travel a lot, last week I was in Montreal, going back this weekend, and hopefully next month I'll be on the west coast hitting up California!

Please complete the following sentence: "Since I play Live for Speed..."

I've become a real aggressive driver on the streets, burning rubber like its free! (which is definitely not free or cheap lol)

What is your favourite drink / food when you are racing?

I love to drink Gatorade and eat a lot of chocolate (Hershey's Chocolate, so good!), nothing gets me racing faster!

What is the special thing that keeps you playing Live for Speed?

The competitive nature of LFS keeps me in it, along with the great people you meet on the tracks.

Your favourite Track in Live for Speed? Why?

Favourite track, not an easy one! I would have to say it's between FE GOLD and BL GP. BL GP for one being the very first track I drove on, and drove on it for years. I just love that track. FE GOLD I love the high speed turns makes me push hard, especially in a RWD car :)

What made you choose T7R?

The friendly nature of T7R was an automatic hit, I think if I didn't join this team, I'd never would have joined any other team. We rock!

What was your most memorable time in LFS?

Best time I had that I can clearly recollect, is way back during the S1 days, racing the FXO on BLGP, I was terrible! I could barely achieve the high 29's if I was lucky. Then a good fella named Michel tossed me a set, and instantly I flew into the mid 28's, won the race and with in a few days I was doing high 26's!

Great set it was indeed, totally taught me how to handle that FXO bugger. lol

You were also part of our last seasons Masters of Endurance team. Can you explain us your motivation of doing this, problems during the races, and maybe some funny stories as well?

MOE was one hell of a challenge. My motivation for this was simple, I wanted to help the team do well in this event, as well I wanted to push myself to see if I could handle it (I always loved endurance racing).

My biggest problem in all truth is my consistency. Due to most races being early (6am), or very late (1am), due to my time zone, I had a very hard time being 100% for the events. I still managed to do good stints, but had a few incidents where I crashed/spun out.

I have a few funny and tense times; I remember my microphone broke down for one of the events, so I had to communicate thru morse code. Quite interesting, eh fellas :) lol

If you had the chance to add one thing to Live for Speed (no matter what it is), what would it be?

I would probably add a 997 Porsche 911 GT3

Your favourite superhero, why?

Easy, Superman because he has the best advantage of all, he's the man of steel :D But yes, I used to really like the show "Lois & Clark, the New Adventures of Superman" when I was a bit younger :)

What was your dream when you were young? Is it still your dream, or is there a new one?

My dream as a kid, and till this day, is to be a pilot. Still working on the financial aspect of it, so donations accepted. lol

And now please feel free to say some words to your audience.

To all of you out there, remember this... Touch me and I'll sue :) lol

Thank you Basem for joining this interview.
