ESL ESCCII Round 3 FZR @ Westhill PDF Print E-mail

Our driver Dan, who is taking part in the current LFS ESCC Season II has written a race report from the 3rd race, which took place on Westhill International with the fast FZRs.

Now, let me make something clear to start, this was a disappointing event, not because of the driving, but because of the turnout, we had 6 drivers racing in race 1, and 3 in race 2, which as you can understand on a track like Westhill, isn't at all fun, but in true Triple Seven Racing tradition, I stuck it out  icon_thumleft.

Qualifying

I'll make no bones about it, along with the single seater cars, the large GTR's have had very little seat time from me, but thanks to a decent set and some determination, I managed to break my PB and get a low 1:31, which placed me third on the grid.

Race 1

Started third, but got punted off on T2, not really sure how or why, but bottomline I did, and got firmly stuck in the kitty litter, I managed to pull my way out but was down in sixth and about 15 seconds adrift.
20 or so boring laps, and a PB of 1:30:78 later, due to some disconections, I was catching 4th, I found it very suprising how hard it was to pass on Westhill, and as such never made to move, finishing 5th out of 5.

Race 2

Because I finished 5th (last) I started on pole, got a good start, and was managed to hold 2nd place off for a number of laps, unfortunatly, in doing this I overheated my tyres and as a result had a few poor lap, by this time the number of drivers had reduced, through disconecctions, to 3, so at least I was going to get a podium  laughing7.
With the prospect of 20 solo laps, I found it difficult to keep concentration, but I managed to keep awake and finished 3rd out of 3  laughing7

I was a good event for points, but a bad event for racing, I have made the suggestion that we utilized the latest test patch which allows 32 drivers, and combine the grids for the next event, failing that, I hope we have a better turn out.

Overall, this event places me 3rd in Division 2
