My Logitech MOMO Racing (Black) has given me sterling service for 4 years, but recently has started showing it's age (49 thousand miles). You could never describe this type as super smooth, but the rotation has become even more notchy. Especially on fast sweeping turns with only slight deflection, I would find the wheel felt locked. I would have to exert more force to release it from that position.
I've ended up reducing the force feedback down to 10% (depending on car). I've repaired the pedals before with excellent results, but a clean up and screw-tightening inside the wheel didn't help.

So sod the consequences, I've bought a Logitech G25  mrgreen Mr Plastic can carry the cost for a while
Hopefully arrives this week. I'll need to get used to it before the Road Sport Winter Cup starts

Good decision!
You wont regret it. Personally i dont think you will use the shifter, when you wanna be really fast, but it is (was) always fun to use it.  icon_thumleft

Have fun with it. Its a nice piece of good quality hardware.

Awesome purchase there Gav!  icon_thumleft

I plan to buy a G25 once my MOMO gives up! She's been running for 6 years strong now. Surprisingly, no pedal troubles yet!

Keep us posted on the new wheel once it comes in  Smiley

Has it turned up yet Gav ? Smiley

you will never be able to go back to a "lesser wheel" after you have got used to the pedals on the G25 Smiley

soon you will have to start buliding your cockpit Smiley

Been using it for half an hour this afternoon. Smiley
I'm having trouble returning to right foot braking! Downshifting is an art I'll have to learn again. I'm also having to adjust to 900º rotation, hopefully it'll all come in time.

Missing all my button functions already, I'll need to figure out everything again including reassigning functions to my joystick next to me and maybe my wireless joypad.

The wheel turn is very smooth, yet strong FF kicks in when asked for. I'll keep you posted.

Gav RFB is not natural on this wheel, stick with LFB its far better, for some reason the G25 forces you into LFB..
Why are you using 900º rotation?? most peeps find 240º to 360º is best..also 5.01 software is available at logitech..

Yep, I've decided I  can't use 900º rotation. It's impossible to catch a slide that way.
I was used to 270º with 0 turn compensation on the MOMO, which made it twitchy in a straight line but easy to catch the back end going out. Now trying 360º with 0.5 turn compensation.

The gear shifter is fun but obviously not faster. I'll be using the paddles for competative racing, or maybe compromise with the sequential stick shifter. Then I can use the paddles for look left/right

Yeh i use 240, but i prefer it that way..i tend to use the sequential shifter, and i have got use to having buttons mapped out for looking and so on, but with LFS it is a bit different, you need to see quite quickly..

900° is abit unrelistic Jan espically on a sim wheel, you just cant use it the same as a real wheel, let alone i think you have to protect your hardware, that amount of movement all the time i think will limit the life span..

That's like buying a new highend LCD Tv and keep using the 10 years old one because of being afraid of making a scratch to the new one while unpacking...

If the amount of buttons at the shifting unit is not enough, you can define one of the buttons as switch button and so you can double the amount of buttons.

I'm liking this wheel now I've got it set up right, it feels similar to my previous wheel but a bit smoother, and of course the pedals are an improvement. I don't find the gear change click as noisy as I thought it would be, I saw several people modding theirs as they claimed it was a big clank when changing gear.

I'm used to the buttons not being on the wheel now, though an additional two would have been appreciated so that I could have easy access to paddle shift, look left/right which I have now, plus pit limiter and teamspeak which have had to be moved to the shifter unit.

It's a pain to swap between paddle shift and stick shift since this means reassigning the functions in LFS every time. Therefore I've had a go at writing scripts with the LFS script system to swap functions for me, and it works great. I've programmed a button on my adjacent joystick as one of the little used ctrl+F keys to cycle through the three modes.
Gear Shift mode: throttle blip on gear change down switched on, handbrake on a button. Manual clutch
Paddle Shift mode: throttle blip on gear change down switched off, handbrake on stick shift (pull back). Auto clutch
Stick shift mode: throttle blip on gear change down switched off, handbrake back on a button. Auto clutch

I wanted to control this manually instead of being fixed to one mode per car. I can now swap mode even in the middle of a race!
The gear shifter is great fun and rewarding to use, but a bit too much to do for a fast car where gear changes are very frequent.
