Yeah, it seems the main provider in the UK (BT) didn't put in the investment earlier on, so we're lagging behind other developed countries for speed.

I have avoided ADSL Max to keep low latency (without the multiplexing) so I'm only on 2MB service (LFS servers start at 41ms). I'm so far from the exchange that ADSL+ would only result in 3.5MB/s, no point for me.

I'm with a small ISP, I avoided the big names that do all the advertising, to ensure good customer support. 10GB/month through the day, but unmetered overnight.

We also had some providers that blocked ports but I think no one does it anymore over here
as all the customers ran away from them  Smiley

I once thought I could try KabelTV (which gives you here next to TV a 32mbit DSL line)
but limited traffic and together with TV it was much too expensive.

I would be bankrupt if I had to pay for extra traffic
as I usually have between 50GB and 400GB / month  lol

OH NO just some minutes ago
I got a new offer from my provider today:
VDSL (up to)  50mbit (51.300) down and  10mbit up
including all the other stuff I already have and some more things for 49,99 Euro. icon_silent

Damn! 50 down and 10 up
now I really start to think about it.

Well all providers doing the same in september. I just had offer for 8mbit with better tv package for less.  But uplaod speeds  are insane.. They willing to give 384kbit upload with 8mbit line- lol

Then you can have 16 mbit with 512kbit up and 24 mb with 1mb up.  What a piece of sh*t. I think i'll stick to my 4mb with 512kbit up.

Or maybe i'll think about it..there's an option to sppeed up upload to 0.5mbit with little extra charge..but very little so it would be less to pay than it is now ...hmm i'll think about it.

Sry for double.

Just got 8mbit here.. updated uplaod to 512kbit instead of 384. Works sweet so far.  Should be 16 later and about 30 in middle of the night. I pay less for this than for old 4 mbits. Pings in lfs looks the same  for me sooo i'm happy with my isp so far.  I just hope the dark age won't come again as in last year when internet was slowing down from 2 pm when people went back home from work and ping went sky high. I hope they are prepared  with those new speeds.
