my MS FF Sidewinder wheel died yesterday after 11 !!! years and 100 of thousands of kilometers
best money I've ever spend on something (~14 euros/year)

Anyway:
Now I try to use the Logitech Driving Force Pro (DFP)
which I banned into the cupboard for some years.

I tried to read the LFS forum a bit and think I read that a lot of people use the version 4.60
of the Logitech profiler software.
Does it matter?

Or is anyone usig this wheel here?
I have the driver versions 5.02 and 5.04 here
but I think I read somewhere that 5.04 is not good etc. etc.

Would be great if anyone could post some tipps and tricks
especially about the drivers and settings.

I'm still on 4.90.

tips and tricks, hmm
900° steering, seperate axis, 100%FF and  remaining settings to 0%
and you can create button cycles to a button, like: F9 - F10 - F11 - F12 on one button etc...

can't help you with the pedals though... Cheesy

I am using 5.0.1.

Other than the 900 degree's part, what Jan said is the best way to have it setup and feel good!

I find the DFP's wheel diameter so narrow that winding it around on high feedback becomes more of a pain that real. I don't enjoy it but there are many that are stark raving mad  mrgreen

My DFP is on the way out atm.  Feels like the sensor was dirty.  When i was taking long bends and turning onto a straight it would re-center quite badly and then half way down the straight...normally well times when i hit the brakes it would center back. So I gave it a good clean and gave the pedals a good dusting and it worked better for week, now it is doing it again so i think there might be something else wrong. Wheel has been good, gotten 150 000 km's out of it so i am very happy.

Thx for the infos guys.
I use now the 5.02 drivers
but NOT 900° (I want to have fun instead of working while racing lol)

I had the problem  that LFS always overrides my profile configuration
then I found out that I shouldn't allow that "a game can change the config"  in the profiler and also in the global configuration.

Now it works ok with very low degree of steering (I will not tell you the number as you will laugh at me then Wink )
The feeling of the force feedback is still not perfect for me atm but it's maybe just familiarization.

I sometimes have the feeling that the FF comes a second to late especially when driving over kerbs.
With the MS wheel I had the rumble feeling instantly and now I can drive 1 or 2 car lengths over a straight kerb (blackwood) and then it starts to rumble very late.
I also still have to use much much more arm force to turn the wheel around then with my MS wheel.
But better to have a DFP then no wheel at all  Smiley

So I still got the noob feeling back with this wheel (especially when touching the green and the car/wheel reacts diff. as I'm used to. But it's also interesting to experience it. It's like a physics update of LFS  laughing7

Another question about the DFP

What do you use to screw it to the table?

I mean these 2 bolts on the back (see pic.)
Was  there a special screw-wrench that was not in my package?

Unfortunatly I often have to remove it from the table as my PC is not a racing sim only PC.

Do I have to use a pliers everytime I want to attach or remove it from the table?
It's a real pain (for me) to try to screw it just with my big sweaty fingers all the time.
