Race 1 was a fortnight ago and I did pretty well considering the advantage the FZ50s had on the straights. Finished 5th

Race 2 was tonight at South City Long Reversed which should have been an advantage for my RAC. I didn't finish! Sad
I qualified 5th in some tight times. From the start the first 3 were pulling away and I was all over the back of eraser_svk for the next 8 laps. I would apply occasional pressure but it's hard to pass.
Unfortunately I clipped a barrier which made me hit the opposite one harder then spin 3 times. I was lucky not to receive any damage but had lost quite a few places.

I resumed to follow a gaggle of FZ50s for a lap or 2. I slid a little bit and nudged a barrier, but the over zelous impact detection decided to launch me into orbit. I landed on my wheels but with practically a dead car. Race over Sad

I crawled round to the pits and started from last. With renewed purpose from my anger I posted pb after pb, including the fastest lap of the race at that time (later pipped by the winner). I threw caution to wind since I had nothing to lose - hit a barrier, landed on my roof and died.

More concentration needed next time.

Too bad, sounds like you really had the pace today but not the luck that sometimes (especially in South City) is needed.
Thx for the little report.

Unlucky Gav, well come the new patch that barrier bashing should maybe not be so bad!

But big up to you for keep going and showing your pace. Im sure everyone noticed it and was probably rather glad you had an accident  icon_thumleft

Event 3 was two races of 12 laps each on Thursday night, at Fern Bay Gold reverse.

Quote
I had practiced for this event so was more confident, and happy with qualifying 2nd.

However the start of the first race was terrible for me, my PC was jerky until the field spread out and I was way too nervous. A mistake let eraser past during the shocking early laps. I then settled down and caught eraser up again, was some good racing but followed him home into 3rd.

Second race and it was my turn to apply some pressure to eraser for the early laps, but he held it together. I then made an unforced error in touching the grass which relegated me to 6th right behind the three FZ50's of lococost, DaveWS and wimpie. These were fighting amongst themselves and I couldn't find a way past. I was thinking I would just have to wait for one of them to make a mistake... like what I do! Near the end wimpie and DaveWS collided during a fish tailing exercise so I got a lucky 4th place finish. Was enjoyable racing though
That was with version X, racing with Patch Y next time. Hope I still love the Raceabout with the new physics.

Hey
a 3rd and a 4th is still remarkable.  icon_thumleft
I hope you can adapt your driving to the new physics and clutch etc. till the next race.

Good luck Gavin

Event 4 - 20 laps at Aston National Reverse

My Raceabout was already down a second on the FZ50s on this track, yet I also carried 23kg success ballast for being 5th in the championship. So qualifying 13th wasn’t so bad.

I got away well from the line, as did Kid222 ahead of me, and we caught up lococost to go 3 wide into T1. I was on the outside and taking care, but niall09 came in too hot from behind and spun lococost. I was then following a gang of FZ50s (is that the collective name?) and there was no point blocking them on the straight.

Lap 2 and approaching the half way chicane I came upon [GR]Evolution going slower into the corner than I expected, I am sorry to say I hit him. Then niall09 came between us and hit [GR]Evolution as well which spun him round. Feeling responsible for initiating this I waited up until [GR]Evolution had passed me again which unfortunately meant dropping 10 places as he recovered. Niall09 carried on.

Now I was 3rd from last and had to battle through the field again. Some made grassy detours and I passed others, it was proving fun. By lap 6 I had reached 3 squabbling FZ50s and passed them, followed by swapping positions with Bean0 for several laps which probably cost us both time. I would pass on the corners, he would pass on the straights, both compromised. Sorry to him for bumping him up the bum approaching the chicane again on lap 7. I should have accounted for the longer braking distance of the FZ50 there. Tobsen00 had caught us as well.

A couple more drivers decided to build sand castles and I was up to 10th. By lap 11 I think some FZ50s were struggling with their tyres. Mine however were ideal, staying at optimum 70ºC. Throughout the week I had actually tweaked something better from my starting setup for once!
By lap 15 I was up to 9th and feeling pretty pleased with myself to have managed that against so many FZ50s. [GR]Evolution had dropped down due to other incidents but I noticed he was now leading the pack behind and catching. I put in some consistent laps with the aim of holding on, this was 'serious racing' time.

On the last lap I had the most awful thing happen to me in all my simracing... I ran out of fuel!
It was dreadful watching each car pass me. After finishing [GR]Evolution gave me a push for a consolatory 20th place, cheers.

Dans just posted the replay at LFS forums and Ive just finished watching Wink
I think you handled the incident on lap2 very well, its a shame it cost you so many places, but in a way watching you fight back to 9th showed some great racing Smiley

How unlucky about the fuel, I couldnt believe it myself when I saw you slowing in the last lap and unconciously spoke "oh no!" out loud when I was watching, wife called "is everything ok?" lol Cheesy

I also felt you might be a bit lonely as the only driver from our team in this league, it looks like great racing every round Smiley
all in all considering you had the extra weight (probably why the fuel went) I think you drove excellent well done.

Nice race report, good luck for the next round Gav, add a couple more % fuel just in case  laughing7

Just finished watching it.

Damn one very cool looking league. Definently a lot of fun had by all.

Keeping your tyres just right or drivable for that period of time takes concentration and determination.  I'm sure one of these races it will pay off again for you Gav, keep it up you doing a great job.

I couldn't say it better. Was nice to watch (till the last lap - very unlucky after a great comeback)
Better use 3j's fuel calculator next time Gavin  Wink

btw
In the replays:
I never noticed that before but when you hit ctrl + shift you also see  the date and time the race was held.
Must be new or I just have found that a bit late  laughing7
