That upgrade was quick. It was only last night you were saying you needed one during the league race.
Pity the upgrade wasn't done 24hours earlier, eh?  clown

Nice setup there Jeff,
I am planning on getting a similar setup to yours, how does that video card treat you? And how would you recommend the Athlon Processor in comparasion to an Intel?

I once used it but it depends on what you want to do with it,
you can use it for speed or bigger disks or safty reasons.

Or if you use an onboard raid controller or a special raid card.

If safety(backup is the reason then it only makes sense if you use at least RAID 1 or Mirrored Disk Array =  1 physical disk is partnered with a 2nd physical disk (you need 2 of the same size). Each physical disk contains the same exact data and the data will be written simultaneously to each disk. I used that with an onboard controller it's easy to install but I didn't used it for long because times are changing quickly in PC biz and disksizes too so now I use external Hdds to save really important stuff on it  Wink

I think the worst thing is RAID  0 or Striped Disk Array =  (2 disk are seen as one large disk) if one drive fails then all the data in the entire array is lost.

But there are a lot of more possible configurations like Raid(0+1) where you can use the both above togther and Raid 10 and Raid 3 or Raid 5 ...

It really depends on what you want to do with it.

Hey guys,
this is my new PC... Should be in within the end of this week (Thursday fingers crossed!)

Intel - Core2 Duo E6550 at 2.4ghz
2gigs of ram
500gb Hard drive
Asus GF8800GTS 320MB PCI-e  Video card (hope its good!)
LG 20'' Monitor (downgraded from 24)

Cant wait for her to get in, I suspect it will provide a better gaming experience than my previous computer.

...my new PC...

Nice Basem.  I want to get me something similar to this, was having a look the other day. Want my own machine again and while im at it thinking of also the G25.  My DFP is making some weird noises but has for a while now and still feels good.  Just the pedals are starting to act up, odd spiking and sometimes no full brake or full throttle....but nothing a good stamp doesnt fix  laughing7

Looking forward to swapping some paint again soon man!

Hey guys,
I had to modify the PC just a bit, in order to receive it tomorrow instead of next week (argh stupid shipping).. But its gona work out for the better!
Instead of the Intel - Core2 Duo E6550 at 2.4ghz im getting the Intel - Core2 Duo E6750 at 2.6ghz. Its a tad bit more expensive, but its currently in stock, which should mean I'll be on the tracks later tomorrow (fingers crossed, hoping nothing goes wrong!).

Cya on the tracks sooner than you all might think  laughing7

My cockpit since my latest addition Smiley
I had to extend the desktop a bit to accommodate the shifter (I prefer it on the left) using some cheap wall shelving and G-clamps. The joystick to the left of that is programmed for join, spectate, pits, leave pits, vote restart...

If the room was bigger I would build a racing frame, alas too small. I might come up with a frame to house the pedal unit, for greater comfort and adjustability.
