Hi.

Just wondered if anyone could direct me to some good progs to use for skinning, and any comments you think would be helpful.

Ive done a couple of basic skins on photoshop, and just wanted to progress a bit.

Cheers.

P.S. How do you go about changing the lights, tyres and interiors.....seen quite a few modded ones and just wanted to know. Smiley

As you have found, the skins are held as jpeg's, so you can change the "paintwork", in theory that is all you can do.

In reality you can change much more, however, these changes are only "local" to your PC, lights, tyres and interiors and contained in certain dds files, contained within the DDS folder, I would suggest visting both the addons forum and the skinning forum on the LFS forum site for much, much more info.

As for skinning progs, PS is about the best you can get, I would suggest using the "master skinerz" (i think thats how it's spelt) paintkits, they have everything on layers, again, the skinning forum is a very good resource for finding various things out.

Mark (Gopher our resident skinner) may be able to shed a bit more light on it  icon_thumleft

P.S. lets have a look at those skins you have done then  laughing7

Print screen in LFS, then paste into PS, save the file and attach here, or attach the jpg of the actual skin file.

You can find the templates, Dan has mentioned at http://www.lfs-gear.com/kitz.html.

Their forum at http://skinnerz.proboards26.com/index.cgi is also a good resource.

Well...heres a few...please bear in mind ive only been 'skinning' about 3 days...

First one is a bit basic, but wendy likes it  lol

This next one was my first 'real' attempt

Then i had another go...sorta like this one

Seem to be getting better...slowly but surely

Then i tried an f1 car...bit harder as im sure you all know...with all the extra bits of trim etc..

All in all...dont think ive done a bad job..but obviously i could do sooo much better   lol

Good work  icon_thumleft
You might have noticed that each face of the car doesn't match up exactly to the in-game car... there is stretching. Check these scaling factors I calculated to account for the stretching http://www.burton3.vispa.com/stretching.pdf
