I came across this thread at LFS Forum, and decided to try Vain's suggestion of using the recent script system to give me a clutch pedal. http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=10956

Using a button (actually my side stick on my MOMO Black wheel) I can now toggle the left pedal between normal brake and a clutch pedal for race starts. The script toggles auto clutch also of course.

There's a bit of co-ordination needed to do the start and swap back before changing to 2nd, as I would need to press the left pedal down for the gear change which is not advisable when trying to make it a brake pedal again. Needless to say last night I messed up a couple of race starts, need more practice. Offline I seemed to get a better start 3 times out of 10, but mess up up 2 times out of 10.

Those with a G25 or VPP pedals will now tell me how useless this thread it Tongue

Well, personally, I use a MS Sidewinder FFB wheel. As you know, its just a 2 pedal wheel with FFB. I have to say tho, great wheel Cheesy. Anyway, back on topic, for clutch, sometimes I assign a button on the wheel to engage it when I want to test out my throttle blipping and shifting skills but I never thought of the idea to avoid a false start, thanks for that P1LOT Cheesy. I used to engage the clutch in RBR when launching off the line, worked a treat Cheesy. Man, it seems to be getting more and more realistic, especially now Cheesy. Can't wait for the next main patch. Devs, you da men! tongue

I was too.. what's the fuss rev when in neutral with handbrake on, then when lights go green use the gear paddle to shift into first. This works just as well.

It's to help with launching, using clutch instead of wheel spinning. You need near maximum revs to stop the engine bogging down at launch, but this means wheel spin is inevitable, i.e. less grip.

The idea it to keep the engine in it's best torque band (about 4K?) and modulate the clutch for most power without wheel spinning.
